Funeral Services Held For Harold Sebastian
Funeral services were conducted Mon., Dec. 24, 1973 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Dubuque, and also at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Mr. Harold J. "Stub" Sebastian, who died Sat. morning, Dec. 22 at the family home in Dubuque. Rev. M. A. Kampfe, Dubuque, and Rev. Norman Ullestad of Postville officiated.
Harold John Sebastian, son of William and Amanda (Gericke) Sebastian, was born May 19, 1912, rural Luana. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, and received his education in the Luana Consolidated School, graduating with the class of 1930.
On Jan. 15, 1941, he was married to Margaret McNally of Luana.
Mr. Sebastian worked as buttermaker at the Luana Creamery for several years, later was manager of the Traer Creamery, Traer, Iowa, and then moved to Waterloo where he worked in the capacity of refrigeration service for several years. Later moving to Postville, he continued this service, also operating an appliance store. They then moved to Luana where he operated a tavern and did refrigeration service until moving to Dubuque in the fall of 1954. Since that time he had been employed at H. Trenkle Sausage Co. as a maintenance engineer, also doing refrigeration service from his home, until the time of his death.
He served as Steward with amalgamated meat cutters and Butchers Union No. 150.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Roger William, and one granddaughter, Kelly Sue Pollock.
He is survived by his wife and 3 daughters, Mrs. David (Judy) Pollock, Mrs. William (Barbara) Schneider, Jr., both of Dubuque, and Mrs. Ralph (Connie) Myers, Jr. of Dickeyville, Wis.; one son, Steven, at home; 3 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Starr (Palma) Baade of Monona, and one brother, Lyle of Luana.
