Leslie F. Dresselhaus, 74, of New Albin, died on Sunday, July 5, at St. Joseph Bethany Nursing Home in La Crosse after a lingering illness.
He was born on October 21, 1907 at Dorchester, the son of Fred and Eliza (Schulz) Dresselhaus. He moved to New Albin at age 7 with his parents. He married Gladys (Thimmesch) Irons on March 31, 1936, and they lived in New Albin all their married life. He operated Dresselhaus Hardware from 1946 to 1974. He later owned D & D lumber and construction of New Albin.
He was a member of the New Albin fire department, member of the school board and a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert of New Albin; two daughters, Mrs. Merle (Sheryl) Welper of New Albin and Mrs. Virgil (Sandra) Richards of Rapid City, So. Dakota; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dixie Mineart of Mason City; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Clinton (Esther) Dee of New Albin; and a brother, Carl Dresselhaus of Davenport. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 7, at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Mattson officiated and burial was in the New Albin cemetery.
Pallbearers were Louis Weymiller, Franklin Weymiller, Cleon Sires, Robert Bulman, Sterling Ness and Charles Dee.
The Potter-Haugen funeral home of Caledonia was in charge of arrangements.
