Funeral services for James M. Peterson, 77, of Lansing, were held Wednesday, December 26, at Our Savior’s Lutheran church. He died Sunday, December 23, at Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 26, 1902 in Waukon, to William and Rachel Osmundson Peterson. He attended local schools, was a shoe repairman and also owned a bookstore in Lansing for many years. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran church, a Mason, and was active in church organizations.

He is survived by two sisters, Harriet Bechtel of Waukon, and Mrs. Larry (Alice) Henning of Greenville, South Carolina, and a brother, Harold, of Waukon.

The Rev. Herbert Hanson officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service and burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Bechtel, Elmer Kostman, Leonard Feuerhelm, Louis Jones, Karl Mosier and John Bechtel.

Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
