Rites in New Albin for Clifford Gantenbein

Clifford Gantenbein, 78, formerly of New Albin, died on Thursday, June 21, in an Onalaska, Wis. nursing home.

He was born on November 17, 1900 in Jefferson, Minn. to Mr. and Mrs. U. Carver Gantenbein. He married Marie Barry on November 20, 1924. She preceded him in death in 1975.

Survivors are one son, Donald, of La Crosse; three brothers, Glen of Howard, So. Dakota, Rolland "Pete" of De Soto, Wis., and Raymond of Green Bay, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Rogstad of La Crosse and Mrs. Fred (Maida) Lager of St. Peter, Minn.; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Albin, the Rev. Linus Raising officiating. Burial was in Jefferson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tim, John, Tony, Barry and Jack Gantenbein and John Smerud.

The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
