John Griffin Rites Friday
A mass of requiem was said Friday, June 19, 1970 in St. Patrick’s Church in Waukon for John Griffin of Waukon. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frederic Heles officiated and burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Griffin died Tuesday, June 16 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. He was born Nov. 21, 1895 in Allamakee county. He was a son of John and Catherine O’Brien Griffin.
He attended the local schools and Jan. 2, 1921 married Vernie Lane in St. Paul, Minn. He was employed as a farmer and later as an implement dealer.
Survivors are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. George (Della) Donovan and Mrs. David (Genevieve) Lageson, both of Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Dean (Karen) Drew of Cedar Rapids, and two sons, Jack of Waukon and Greg of Cedar Rapids. Twenty-three grandchildren, a brother James Griffin of Red Wing, Minn., and a sister Mrs. Andrew Schulte of Cedar Rapids also survive. An infant son Donald died at birth.
Mr. Griffin was a member of St. Patrick’s church in Waukon and was a lifelong resident of Allamakee county.
Pallbearers were John Campbell, Carl Link, Forest Ryan, Hank Schulte, Maurice Hart and Walter Stone. Martin Brothers funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
