Hold Reburial at New Albin
Funeral services for Pvt. George Le Roy Neumann, New Albin, who was killed in action at Okinawa, were held at the Meyer funeral home in New Albin Friday, March 11, at 1:15 p.m. and at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, Crooked Creek, at 2 p.m. Burial was in the church cemetery, the Rev. P.H. Franzmeier officiating.
The Kenneth Casey post of the VFW, New Albin, conducted military rites for Neumann, who was killed May 2, 1945, when he was 21 years old. Neumann was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Neumann. Delegations of the VFW and the American Legion from Lansing also attended services.
Neumann was inducted into the service in the Marine Corps in September, 1944. He received his basic training at San Diego, Calif. He was married to Viola Ovitte Nov. 15, 1941, in Bridgeport, Conn.
Survivors include his wife and son, George, Jr., Bridgeport, Conn., his father and stepmother, Crooked Creek township, three brothers, Helmer at home, Walter, New Albin, and Erwin, Bridgeport, Conn. His mother, one brother, harry, and one sister, Ella Dona, preceded him in death.
