Talcott Buck Easton was born June (looks like 13 or 18) 1836, at Martinsburg, Lewis county, New York, and died at Mason City, Iowa, at the home of his daughter, on Thursday, Feb. 15, 1912, at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 2 days. He was the second of the children of Harvey Easton. When he was (23 or 28) years old, the family left New York for the prairies of Iowa. About this time the family suffered the loss of the mother, who died shortly before the time of starting. They settled on a farm two miles west of Postville. Harvey Easton later married Mrs. Babcock, one of the old New York neighbors, who with her family of four young people joined the Eastons in their western home.

In 1867 Talcott Easton was married to Helen Babcock, settling on the eastern part of the farm. here they lived for nine years until the untimely death of the young wife. Mr. Easton then sold his farm and moved to Postville with his two children, Anna and Chester, occupying, with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Easton, the house which is now the Congregational parsonage. He engaged in the furniture business and was one of Postville's business men for fifeteen years.

In (1883 or 1888) he was married to Addie Sparks, and in 1891 he moved to Garner, Iowa, joining the colony of relatives and former Postville residents in that thriving city. There he engaged in the furniture business until 1902. Since that time he has lived in Garner, until last fall, when his failing health made it advisable to move to the home of his daughter.

He was a man of upright christian character, a member of the Methodist church, a citizen always found on the side of right and a friend and neighbor whose loss will be mourned by all those in both communities who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Addie; his daughter, Mrs. W. J. Holahan of Mason City; his son, Chester of Little Falls, Minn.; and his son by his second marriage, Leonard Locke Easton of Spokane, Wash.

The funeral was held from the home of Hall Roberts, Rev. Keck of Garner, Iowa, officiating.

Those present from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Holahan of Mason City; (?). H. Easton of Little Falls, Minn.; Hon. A. C. Ripley, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Wichman, H. E. Babcock, Miss Cora Cassil and Rev. Keck of Garner; Miss Anna Holahan of Madison, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. S. Hart of Waukon. Mrs. Easton, because of her illness, was unable to attend.

The sorry news came to Mrs. Hall Roberts of this city this morning that her brother, T. B. Easton, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. J. Holihan, in Mason City, after a protracted illness. Deceased was for many years a highly esteemed resident and business man in Postville, going from here to Garner, Iowa. The remains will be brought to Postville for burial.
