The Silver Cord Loosed.
Harold, child of Fred and Frances Beedy, born July 16th, 1885, died May 23rd, 1888.
Sacred are the memories that cluster around the death and burial of a child. A sweet bud of promise begins to unfold its bright petals of affection. Each day, almost, discovers some new beauty. When, suddenly, developement is arrested, the rosy petals pale, the light of life goes out, and the withered bud must be tenderly laid away to wait the reviving touch of an Almighty hand.
Little Harold was never strong. Yet he was a bright child, and in spite of constitutional weakness, bid fair to grow to manhood. A week before he died both he and a sister four years older became ill. At first the parents thought them sick with measles, this ailment being so prevalent in town. In a few days, however, the developments showed it to be something far more serious. A throat trouble wrought its work, and in the case of Harold medical skill proved unavailing. "The silver cord" was "loosed", and the tender spirit was called away from the troubled body.
Owing to the neccessary absence of the pastor, the funeral service was conducted by S. B. Finney, at the parent's residence. The sorrowing friends have the tenderest sympathy of all in this sad bereavement.
