Dorothy Boese

Funeral services for Dorothy Boese were held Friday, July 5 at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. David H. Palm officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. The casket bearers were her grandsons.

Dorothy Boese, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Miene) Freeman, was born April 26, 1903 at National, Iowa. She died July 3, 1985 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.

She attended the rural schools of Clayton County. In 1921 she was married to Robert Boese, and they were the parents of 9 children. They lived in Postville all of their lives. Dorothy has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center for the past 14 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert in 1939; a son, Robert, Jr.; one brother, Joe and 4 sisters, Linda McColloch, Olive Erickson, Mary Boese and Mabel Steele.

Surviving are 6 sons, Leo, John and Frank, all of Postville, Harold of Galveston, TX, Edward of Davenport and Donald of Waukon, 2 daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Norman Johnson) of Postville and Katherine (Mrs. Maurice Glick) of Olin, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a brother, John Freeman of Havre, MT.
