Fred H. Schultz, 74, passed away on Monday morning at ten o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carlous Meyer near Castalia, following an illness of only a few days duration. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the home at 1:30 o'clock, and at St. Paul's Lutheran church at two O'clock, with the Rev. F. R. Ludwig officiating. Interment will be made in Postville cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Schultz, Fred C. Schultz, Harvey Schultz, Walter Schultz, Carl Welzel and Lawrence Welzel, all nephews of the deceased.
Mr. Schultz was born in Grand Meadow township, the son of Karl and Lucia Dahse Schultz, March 13, 1866, and spent his entire lifetime in this community.
He was married to Louise Lenth on December 22, 1889, by the late Rev. J. Gass. Until 1912 the couple resided in Grand Meadow township and then moved to the J. B. Hart farm north of Postville, where they lived until 1928, and then located on the Darius Orr farm for two years. Six years ogo they moved to Castalia where they have made their home with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carlous Meyer, and family.
Mr. Schultz is survived by his wife and two sons, Orville Schultz of Stillwater, Okla., and Richard of Iowa City, and two daughters, Mrs. Fred L. Baltz of Postville and Mrs. Carlous Meyer of Castalia. Surviving also are three grandchildren.
