Postville Herald, Fri., 26 Dec. 1919. From the Waukon Democrat.

Kills Himself At His Farm House.

Acquaintances of Sylvester Connor, who lived with his mother on their farm, four miles west of town, in Union Prairie township, were astounded Monday by the news that he had commited suicide by shooting himself the night before. The act was committed about 2 a.m. in his room and was heard by his sister, Mrs. M. H. Mahoney of Silver Creek, who happened to be a visitor at the parental home. The charge entered the abdomen and did not cause the young mans death until two hours later. It is past the understanding why the young man should end his life thus, and the only conjecture arrived at is that he became temporarily deranged. He had sold the home farm the week before to a neighbor, Wm. Rea, for $250. an acre for the 160 acres, which left him and his mother in very comfortable circumstances. His future plans may have proven perplexing, which may have affected his mind. His terrible act is deeply deplored by all, for he was an estimable young man.-- Waukon Democrat.
