Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 17, at the Schutte Funeral Home here for Rose Elizabeth Benson, 63, who passed away at Decorah on March 14. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Rose Elizabeth Benson, 63, passed away Saturday noon, March 14, at Decorah. She had been in failing health since having her right leg amputated last May along with other illnesses.

She was born July 21, 1900 at Randalia, Iowa to Daniel and Marie Bellis. She was baptized and confirmed December 22, 1935 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Postville. The deceased was married to Louis E. Benson February 19, 1918 at Elkader.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one granddaughter, and one brother, George. Survivors include 2 daughters, Lorraine of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Lois of Eldora; 3 sons, LaVerne of LaPuente, California, Lyle of Vinton and Fred of Waukon; 23 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, William Bellis of Jefferson, Wisconsin and Walter Bellis of Osage; an uncle, George Havenstrike of Clermont; nieces, nephews and a number of other relatives.
