Mrs. Lyle Borcherding Succumbs at 24

Mrs. Melodee Gartland Borcherding, 24, of Manlius, New York, wife of SSG Lyle H. Borcherding, Seneca Army Depot, Romulus, New York, died Jan. 23 at State University Hospital, Syracuse, New York.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, she was a secretary of D. G. Nowak and Assoc., Syracuse, New York.

Surviving are her husband, Lyle, Romulus, New York; one son, Steven Borcherding, Romulus, New York; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Gartland of Manlius, New York, and her paternal grandparents.

Services were held Saturday in Holy Cross Church, Syracuse, New York.

Melodee Borcherding was married to Lyle Borcherding, son of Harold and Dorothy (Kickbush) Borcherding. Harold and Dorothy lived in Waukon for a number of years after farming for many years so this is why the obit was in the area papers.

Lyle now lives in PA, his sister Lorna Kolsrud still lives in Waukon.

Dorothy Kickbush Borcherding was my aunt - Lyle & Lorna my first cousins.
