Clara Jane Durno was born in Old Deer, Scotland, Jan. 31, 1831. With her parents she came to America in 1842. She was married to Capt. W. L. Henderson in 1856 on Henderson Prairie. To them were born five children, 2 sons and three daughters. They moved to LeRoy, Minn., in 1870. After her husband's decease Mrs. Henderson lived with her children, spending part of her days with each one. Mrs. Henderson was a member of the Congregational church in Postville while residing here, and of the Presbyterian church at LeRoy at the time of her decease.
She entered into rest at the home of her son T. J. Henderson, at Brownsville, Iowa, Monday night, Sept.14, 1914, at the ripe old age of 83 years, 6 months and 14 days. She is survived by three brothers, two sons and a daughter. The remains were brought to Postville for interment Wednesday evening, Sept. 16th, Rev. J. F. Childress officiating at the grave.
Relatives from abroad present were: Mort Henderson and wife if Independence, Chas. Ramsey and wife of Racine, Wis., F. L. Henderson and wife of South St. Paul, Minn., T. J. Henderson and wife of Brownsville, George L. Durno of Springville.
