In 1855 he moved with his parents to Postville, Iowa. In 1864 he was married to Miss Lydia Dresser and moved to a farm on Henderson Prairie. For a number of years he was president and superintendent of the Postville Cemetery association and it was through his efforts mainly that the grounds were put in their present beautiful condition.
The funeral was held from the Congregational church at two o'clock last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. F. Childress.
The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful.
Those present from abroad were:-- Mr. and Mrs. Alva Chase, of Doland, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chase and Gilbert Chase, of Colton, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hagensick, Mr. Uecker and daughters Alma, Lovina and Delia of Elkader; Mrs. Frank Blaha, of Monona.
