Miss Addie Sanders Passes On Last Friday.

Adelaide M. Sanders was born July 3, 1855, at Elizabethtown, New York, and died, following a paralytic stroke, on Christmas morning, December 25, 1931.

In her infancy she was brought to Iowa by her parents, Julia Clark and John H. Sanders.

Her girlhood was a happy one, spent on the old home farm south of Postville. Later she came to town and became associated with her brother John and brotherinlaw, Henry S. Luhman, in the firm of Luhman & Sanders, where she for twenty-five years managed the dry goods department with singular success. She left her store position to care for her mother in her final illness.

Whenever she could get away from business she liked to travel and during those trips to various points she gathered a store of most interesting relics. It was her request that this collection be given to the public schools as a memorial.

Her passing closes a chapter in the history of the old Sanders home which for more than forty years has been a favorite gathering place for friends of the family, who came from far and near.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Elvira Clark Taylor of Chicago Heights, Ill., and by 12 nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held from the Postville Community Presbyterian church at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon., December 27th, after which the body was laid to rest in the family plot in the Postville cemetery.

The following out-of-town relatives were in attendance at the funeral: Judge and Mrs H. E. Taylor and family of Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Gibson of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Sanders and Mrs. Harley Schlick and son Alvin, all of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sanders of Rudd.
