Funeral services for Ludwig Linderbaum, who passed away last week Tuesday, were held Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran church with the Rev. F. R. Ludwig officiating and interment was made in Postville cemetery.
Mr. Linderbaum was born July 24, 1854, at Klein Buenzow, Pommerania, Germany, and was aged 84 years, 7 months and 13 days at the time of his passing on.
He was married to Miss Caroline Martens in Germany on September 24, 1874, and eleven children were born to them. He and his wife together with five children came to the United States in 1882 and his first employment was on the Williams farm in Grand Meadow township. Later the family moved to a farm near Frankville where they lived until 1912, when they moved to Ossian.
Three and one-half years later the family moved to Postville where they resided until 1920 after Mrs. Linderbaum passed away. In the fall of that year Mr. Linderbaum went to live with his daughter, Louise, now Mrs. Harry Lenth. Later he went to live with his daughter Minnie, Mrs. Will Martens.
The following children survive: Charles Linderbaum, Castalia; Frank Linderbaum, Cresco; Mrs. Anna Althouse, Postville; Mrs. Emma Manja, Chicago Heights, Ill; Mrs. Louise Lenth, Castalia; Mrs. Sophia Geiger, Postville. Also surviving is one brother in Germany, 27 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
