Wm. Meklenburg Passes; Holding Funeral Today.

William Meklenburg, 71, a former Postville resident, passed away Monday morning at seven o'clock at the home of his sons at Fredericksburg following an illness of one years duration. Funeral services are being held here this afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home with the Rev. F. R. Ludwig officiating and interment will be made in Postville Cemetery.

William Carl Meklenburg was born in Borntin, Germany, December 19, 1870, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meklenburg. As a boy he came with his parents to the United States and they settled at Elkader, coming to the Postville community later on.

Since leaving Postville, the family has lived in Chester, Nashua and Fredericksburg.

He was married to Frieda Kuhse at Postville by the Rev. Bockelmann on October 22, 1902, and eight children were born to this union, three of whom have passed away. Mrs. Meklenburg passed away December 11, 1939, and since then Mr. Meklenburg has made his home with his sons, Herman and William at Fredericksburg.

He is survived by five children, Hilda, Mrs. Otto Warnke, at Lime Springs; Henry and John at Chester, and Herman and William at Fredericksburg. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, a brother, Charles Meklenburg at Castalia, and a sister, Mrs. Charles Martins at Waukon.
