"Dust to Dust"
Died in Postville, on Friday morning May 9th, 1890, after an illness of a little over two weeks, Thomas M. Miller, aged 42 years, 2 months and 11 days.

The shock of Mr. Miller's sudden death was only less to the community than to the stricken family. It was not supposed that he was in any serious danger until a day and a half before his death, and even then it ws not thought that the end was so near. The attending physician pronounced his trouble typhoid fever, we understand, but he was taken with the same difficulty in his head that he had a year or more ago, and this gathering, or whatever it was, doubtless was really the cause of his death, though a fever resulted from it.

Mr. Miller was born in Morgan Co., Ohio, and came to Postville about twenty-five years ago, when a mere boy of seventeen, and has resided here continuously since.

Jan. 1st, 1880, he was married to Miss Clark, daughter of John T. Clark. Three children were born to him, all of whom are still living. Three brothers and a sister also survive him.

It is customary to speak well of the dead in all cases, but in this case too much cannot be said of the life and character of the deceased. No man ever lived in Postville who stood better in the community or had more friends, with absolutely no enemies. He was just as near a model man as it is given to humanity to be. Not that he was perfect - for that is given to no man - but he approximated far nearer to it than most men do.

We believe he was a member of the M.E. church and was also an Odd Fellow and a member of the Knights of Pythias. From all these associates and from his family and friends he has gone, never to return.

The funeral was held from the residence on Sunday afternoon, under the auspices of the Knights, Rev. Lease conducting the religious exercises. A large consourse of his neighbors and friends followed his remains to their last resting place.

May a kind Providence sustain the widow and watch over the little children until the reunion in a happier sphere.
