His early life was spent in Iowa. In 1884, he with his brother James came to Jewell county, Kansas. He made his home with his brother until he was married to Eleanor Van Amburg on March 8, 1903.

To this happy union were born two sons and two daughters, Alfred of Goodland, Kans., Robert and Margaret of Kansas City, Kansas, and Ruth of Los Angeles, Calif. Besides his family, he leaves to mourn his departure, seven grandchildren; one brother, J. F. More of Ionia, Kans.; two sisters, Laura Fisher of Tecumseh, Nebr., and Agnes Wilbur of Mondamin, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

In young manhood he was baptized into the Baptist church and never departed from this faith. When the Christian church was organized at Limestone, he was one of the charter members. He was a true Christian, a loving husband and father, and a good neighbor.

His chief delight was to study the Scripture. This was shown by the excellent student of the Rible that he was. One of the passages that he frequently quoted was II Timothy 4: 7-8. (Contributor note: Here that passage appeared.).

Funeral services were conducted in the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 by Reverend Blunt of Cawker City, Kans., and burial was made in the Athens cemetery.
