Last Thursday night, the Cresco Plaindealer relates, Walter Bulger, a carpenter who worked for Jas. Byrne for several years, was killed by falling from the evening passenger train, his body being found about a mile west of Conover. The body was first seen by the train crew of the morning freight, who reported it at Calmar. Marks on the body indicated that his skull had been crushed by coming in contact with a tie, and his collar bone was also broken. He had left word with various parties to inform his wife that he was going to Oelwein in search of work, as he thought work at his trade would be rather dull here this season.
The deceased was about 41 years of age and came to Cresco several years ago from Harpers Ferry, Iowa, where his relatives still reside. He leaves a wife and three children. He was a member of the M.W.A.
