Joseph Matthew Reburn, age 91, of New Albin, Iowa died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at his home. Joseph was born on March 15, 1920 in Dorchester, Iowa to Edward and Stacia (Conner) Reburn. He graduated from New Albin High School. He served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He joined the Army Air Corps one month after the Pearl Harbor attack. He was also in the 8th Air Force in Black Pool, England during the air raids. After returning from the War, Joseph worked for Dee Implement as a mechanic while working as a sub for the United States Postal Service before becoming a full time mail carrier. He served as mail carrier for 35 years. He was a member of the VFW for 66 years,and the Kenneth Casey American Legion Post #5603. He enjoyed gardening, camping, fixing things, coffee time at 3:00 with the gang, and spending time with his great nieces and nephews.

Joseph Matthew Reburn was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John Reburn. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin, Iowa. Officiating was Rev. John Moser. Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in New Albin, Iowa with military rites. Thornburg-DeVries Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Lansing, Iowa assisted the family with the arrangements.

Joseph is survived by his sister, Margaret Weymiller of McGregor, Iowa; eight nieces and nephews: Deb (Michael) Chiantello of Delafield, Wisconsin, Mike (Joan) Weymiller of New Albin, Iowa, Kim (Andy) Esser of LaCrescent, Minnesota, Tom (Lynn) Weymiller of New Albin, Iowa, Jim (Mary) Weymiller of Fairbanks, Alaska, Mary Ellen Thomas (Gary Frensdorf) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Dan (Terry) Weymiller of Las Vegas, Nevada, and John (Robin)Weymiller of Tioga, North Dakota;in addition there are sixteen great-nieces and nephews.
