Funeral services for Rose Anne Cole, 95, were held Saturday, May 23, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Postville. The Reverend A. A. McAvoy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Rose Anne Cole, daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (Moran) Shaffer, was born July 21, 1885 at Cascade. She died May 20, 1981 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.
She attended Mercy School of Nursing at Dubuque in 1910 and then worked at the hospital in Postville. In July of 1915 she was married to Harry D. Cole at St. Martins Catholic Church at Cascade. To this union four children were born. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Bridget Catholic Church and served as Vice President from 1943 through 1947, and Mercy Medical Center School of Nursing Alumnae Association.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1969, a twin sister, Carolyn, and Margaret, Mary, Calista, Katherine, Sadie and Isabel; and two brothers, William and Nicholas.
Surviving are two sons, Harry Shafer Cole, Decorah and William Cole, Charles City; two daughters, Mrs. John (Jane) Walsh of Westchester, Ill., Mrs. Margaret Heaverlo of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
