On the last day of August at his home in this city occurred the death of John J. Fretz. Deceased was born in Canada on January 25th, 1833 and was sixtyeight years old at the the (sic) time of his death. Mr. Fretz and family, consisting of a wife and two sons, came to New Albin in 1879 and for twentytwo years have been residents here. Mrs. Fretz has been an invalid for a number of years and she, together with her two sons, Israel and Harry, are left to mourn his loss. Mrs. Fretz's maiden name was Christianna Michael and she was married to deceased February 10th, 1855. The circumstances surrounding his death are sad and very much to be regretted. However there are none but who sympathise (sic) with those who are left to bear the burden. His death is an indirect result of an overdoes of morphine pills, twentyeight grains, which were kept in the house for medical purposes, and which he swallowed by mistake, it is thought. The funeral services were held at the family home and were conducted by Rev. Barnes, Sunday. Interment took place in the New Albin cemetery. --[Globe.
