Passes Away After Long Illness

The death of Simon Kessel, occurred at his home in this city on Wednesday, June 25, 1924, after an illness of nearly twelve years duration, he having suffered two paralytic strokes. Deceased was born at Kendallville, Winneshiek County, Iowa, Oct. 16, 1855. In 1882 the family moved from Preston, Minn., and on Nov. 22, 1883, he was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Augerman at Canton, Minn. Nine children were born to this union, namely, John, Andrew, Robert, Elton, Henry, Harry, Frances, William and Raymond all of Waukon. In 1895 the family moved from Preston to Waukon which had since been their home.

Mr. Kessel was a painter by trade. During his long illness he was tenderly cared for by his wife and daughter. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gammons on Saturday, with interment in Oakland Cemetery.
