Wayne Snitker, age 74, of Lansing, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Thornton Manor Nursing Home in Lansing. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 17 at the United Methodist Church in Lansing with Rev. Keith Putney officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted the family with arrangements. Wayne was born in Decorah on February 10, 1929, to Loren and Erma (Bray) Snitker. Wayne was previously married to Florence Weipert. Early in his life he worked for a furniture store in Cedar Rapids, after which he hauled milk for nine years in the Lansing area. After that, he went to work for the Lansing Company, where he was employed for thirty years until retiring in 1991. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Thornton Manor for the loving care given to Wayne during is stay. Survivors include three children, Constance Snitker of Decorah, Wayne (Linda) Snitker, Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn., and Carrie (Phil) Bush of Crystal Lake, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four siblings, Lyle (Robin) Snitker of Fond du Lac, Wis., Margaret (Glenn) Schellhammer of West Bend, Iowa, Rosemary Wiggins of Faribault, Minn., and Patricia (Jim) Diller of Nashua, Iowa. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Loren Snitker in April of 1970, and his mother, Erma Snitker, on April 29, 2003; and a brother, Charles. Casketbearers were Mike Wiggins, Tom Snitker, Tracy Snitker, Wayne Schellhammer, Andy Kirby, Bill Snitker, and Wayne Snitker, Jr.
