Funeral services for Caroline Ruth Bursell, age 74, of Waukon, Iowa and formerly of Postville, were held December 2 at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa. Rev. T. M. Marks conducted the services. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Caroline Ruth, daughter of George Bursell and Rose (Rheinhard) Bursell, was born June 6, 1925 in Allamakee County, Iowa. She attended the Postville Schools. Caroline was married to Thannel Hommond of Manchester, Iowa from September 29, 1944 until June 14, 1948. Caroline had been employed by the Allamakee Care Facility of Waukon since 1960, where she was also a resident. Recently, she had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Center of Waukon, Iowa after a hospital release.

Caroline Ruth Bursell died November 29, 1999 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and her brother, James Bursell.

Caroline is survived by her daughter, Jeanie (Wayne) Viera, Sherburne, New York, and six nephews and nieces.
