Rites Held For R. Christofferson

Reuben Carl Christofferson, son of Hans and Caroline Holter Christofferson, was born November 22, 1879, on a farm four miles east of Postville. He died Friday, March 7, 1958, at the home of his son, Harold Christofferson, in Postville.

Reuben Christofferson was married to Lena Charlotte Koenig on February 26, 1905, at Postville. To this union two sons were born, Otis Dean, of Bloomfield and Harold Louis of Postville.

Mr. Christofferson is survived by two sons; one brother, Herman E., of Postville; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died on May 15, 1949, one sister and one brother.

He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Reuben Christofferson worked as a carpenter with George Schroeder for a period of ten years following his marriage in 1905. He then engaged in farming three miles west of Postville until 1928, when the family moved to Cedar Rapids. He spent 20 years as a carpenter in Cedar Rapids before retiring in Postville in 1948.

Funeral services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church, Monday, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
