Funeral services for Lucille Mabel Martins, age 64, of Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Luana, Iowa and Postville, Iowa were held Monday, July 30, 2001 in Des Moines, Iowa Graveside services were held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Luana, Iowa.

Lucille Mabel, daughter of Gerwin August and Mabel Elizabeth (Schlitter) Martins, was born April 26, 1937 at Luana, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm. On November 20, 1956 she married Richard Ambrose Waters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They became the parents of three children. Lucille and Richard divorced in 1974. Lucille and Harry Griffiths married September 29, 1979 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Lucille Mabel Martins died Thursday evening, July 26, 2001 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa from complications of asthma. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Carlton Martins, a nephew Craig Martins, and a brother-in-law, Roger Russett.

Lucille is survived by her 2 daughters, Darlene (Jerry) Bissell of Postville, Iowa and Sharon (Bob) Wolfe of Urbandale, Iowa, and a son, Brian (Rhonda) Waters of Raleigh, North Carolina; 8 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Mary Jane Russett, Norma (Daryl) Sander, both of Postville, Iowa and Anna (Darold) Lamphier of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Joanne Groth of Postville, Iowa.
