Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Edwin Forrest Hamme, age 67, of Port of Pines, Wilmington, North Carolina, husband of former Postville, Iowa resident, Marjorie (Kerr) Hamme were held Thursday, January 10, 1991 at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. A. Doug Reed officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Clayter, Danny Clayter, Sonny Justice, Chuck Justice, Wayne Housand, and William H. Roy, Sr.
Edwin Forrest Hamme, son of Paul and Sophia (Stumfles) Hamme, was born February 20, 1923 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and also served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the American Legion, the VFW, the Elks Club, and the Knights of Columbus.
Edwin Forrest Hamme died Monday, January 7, 1991 in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital in North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; 2 sons, Paul Hamme and William Hamme, both of Riegelwood, North Carolina; 3 daughters, Susan Clayter, Patsy Justice, both of Riegelwood, North Carolina, and Mary Housand of Castle Hayne, North Carolina and 13 grandchildren.
NOTE: Marjorie Kerr's parents were Kenneth and Joyce Mae (Turner) Kerr of Postville, Iowa. They were both deceased at the time of Edwin's death. Marjorie's brothers and sisters: C. Keith (Verta) Kerr, Donald (Norma) Kerr, Dorothy (Gilbert) Livingood who were living in the Postville area at the time of Edwin's death, and Peggy Hart, and Geraldine Meyerhoff who lived elsewhere.
