Funeral services for Marvin Gustave Schulze, age 78, of Waukon, Iowa were held Wednesday, December 20 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Dale Steiber, Harlan Steiber, Kenneth Steiber, Steve Troendle, Clarence Henry, and Virgil Smith.

Marvin Gustave Schulze, son of Gustave O. and Gertrude (Dee) Schulze, was born April 30, 1911 in Lansing, Iowa. Most of his schooling was received in Lansing, Iowa but he graduated from Garden Grove High School in California where he lived for one year with his family. On April 10, 1941 he married Helen Steiber at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lansing, Iowa. He started out working in heavy construction (bridge and culvert) and spent one year at the ordinance depot in Savanna, Illinois doing civilian duty during World War II. He farmed in rural Lansing, Iowa for 35 years and drove a school bus in Lansing, Iowa for six years. He was a member of St. Paul's UMC, a former 4-H leader, and a church trustee at both Lansing and Waukon Methodist churches.

Marvin Gustave Schulze died Monday, December 18, 1989 at his home in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, William Schulze, and Edward Schulze.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Waukon, Iowa, and his mother, Gertrude Schulze of Lansing, Iowa; a son Robert Schulze of Waukon, Iowa and a daughter, Janet (Larry) Jarchow of San Gabriel, California; 5 grandchildren, Krista, Denise, James, Robert, and Robin; 4 sisters, Myrna Steiber, Rita (Carl) Troendle, Gladys Troendle, all of Lansing, Iowa, and Helen (Paul) Bakenhus of Orange, California; and 2 brothers, Harris Schulze of Drayton, Michigan, and John Schulze of Davison, Michigan.
