Funeral services for Lemuel Lorenzo Aldrich, age 86, of Milaca, Minnesota were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27 at the Evangelical Free Church in Milaca with the Rev. Brent Carlson officiating. Burial was in the family plot at Center Baptist Cemetery in rural Waukon, Iowa, Allamakee County. Casket bearers were Ray Edgren, Dale Vanderpool, Butch DeRosier, Chuck Backlund, Dr. Robert Shogren, and John Dahlstrom. The eulogy was given by Richard Helm, assistant basketball coach of the Cleveland Caveliers basketball team.

Lemuel Lorenzo Aldrich was born November 13, 1903 to James Willard and Charlotte Constance (Ericson) Aldrich in Allamakee County, Iowa. He grew up in the Waukon-Lansing area in the area known as Village Creek which is in Center Township in Allamakee County. He worked on the family farm and later attended the Bethel Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota. On June 17, 1926 he married Lois Mildred Skalman at Fergus Falls, Minnesota where Lem operated a grocery delivery business and worked as a mechanic in a repair garage. He worked in Washington D.C. as an electrician for the Army during World War II. He then worked for Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois as an electrician. For a short time they resided in Fergus Falls before moving to St. Paul where he worked for Bethel College and Seminary. After retirement they resided in Milaca, Minnesota for three and a half years before moving back to St. Paul where they lived for an additional two years before returning to Milaca where he has been living in the Elim Home up to the present time.

Lemuel died Tuesday, April 24, 1990. Lem was preceded in death by his wife in November of 1989; 3 brothers, Richard Aldrich, Delbert Aldrich, and Isadore Aldrich; a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter.

Lemuel is survived by his two daughters, Eileen Virginia Marois of Milaca, Minnesota and Avis Kathleen (Paul) Foley of Holbrook, Massachusetts; 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; 2 brothers, Hillard Harold Aldrich of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Rev. Sydney S. Aldrich of Elmira, New York and a sister, Charlotte Shogren of Waukon, Iowa.
