Funeral services for Kristi Ann Busness, age 5, of LaCrescent, Minnesota were held Monday, March 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the East Paint Creek Synod Lutheran Church. Rev. Milton Tweit, Rev. Mark DeGarmeaux, and Vicar Richard Pyffee took part in the services. Interment was in the East Paint Creek Lutheran Synod Church Cemetery, rural Waterville, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Dean Welper, Lawrence Benda, Neil Bresnahan, and Randy Weber. A prayer service was held at the Schumaker-Kish Funeral Home in LaCrescent, Minnesota on Sunday March 24 with Rev. Melvin Smith officiating.

Kristi Ann was the daughter of Darrell and Lou Ann (Welper) Busness. She was born August 26, 1985 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She attended Kindergarten at LaCrescent-Hokah Elementary School and also Sunday School at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in LaCrescent, Minnesota. On March 20, 1991, there was a fire in the Busness home and Kristi was overcome by smoke when she attempted to go back inside the burning home. She died March 21, 1991 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Welper.

Little Kristi is survived by her parents, a sister, Nicole Busness, a brother Chad Busness, her paternal grandparents, Lester and Frances Busness of Waukon, Iowa and maternal grandfather, William Welper, also of Waukon, Iowa; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
