Services Today For Francis Hart

Funeral services are being held today (Wednesday) January 28 in the Schutte Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. for James Francis Hart, who died suddenly in his home Sunday, January 25. The Reverend Dick Harberts will officiate.

James Francis was the son of Charles and Minnie Moyer Hart and was born July 7, 1908 at Liscomb. He graduated from high school in McGregor in 1926. For several years he worked at Farmersburg, then attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

He came to Postville for a brief time, then worked in Waterloo, Iowa and Rockford, Illinois. He opened the Motor Shop in Postville in 1945 and was in business for 25 years. The shop was sold in March of 1971.

Francis was married to Bernice Stromsodt August 30, 1949 in the chapel in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Postville Kiwanis Club, a member of the Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204 and served as associate patron and worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star. He also served as a deacon and trustee in the Presbyterian Church, was a member of the town council, chairman of the Red Cross and president of the Library Board from 1964 to 1971. He was presently an active member of the Library Board.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother Donald and a sister Mrs. Ernest (Donna) Thein.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; one brother, Everett of Perry; two sisters: Mrs. George (Marjorie) Trygg of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and Mrs. Stewart (Mildred) Hawk of Mesa, Arizona, also several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Postville Cemetery.
