Eugene Huebner

Eugene Paul Huebner, son of Henry and Senta (Vulgraf) Huebner, was born on May 20, 1926 at Postville, Iowa. He died Friday, March 17, 1995 in the VA Medical Center at Iowa City, Iowa. He was 68 years old.

He was baptized on June 27, 1926 by the Reverend E. T. Fink and confirmed on March 17, 1940 by the Reverend F. R. Ludwig, both in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He graduated from Postville High School in 1944. Eugene served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On December 29, 1950 he was married to Eileen Sadler in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. They had one son, Dwayne. Throughout his life, Eugene worked as a decorator, painter and wood finisher. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Huebner and a brother Dwayne H. Huebner.

Surviving are his wife, Eileen of Postville, a son Dwayne and his wife, Janet, of Clermont, three grandchildren, Christopher and Aaron Anderson and Aleesa Huebner and a sister, Elaine and her husband, Lorenz Heying of Dubuque.

Eugene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 21, 1995 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. The Reverend R. Michael Brown officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Richard Mohs, George Clausen, Debbie Schultz, Kevin Schultz, Pamela Livingood and Terry Winter. Honorary casket bearers were Tony Bland and Doug Dunlap.
