Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Olga Geneva Larson, age 91, of Waukon, Iowa died Wednesday, February 14, 1990 at her daughter's home in Russellville, Arkansas. Her services were held Sunday, February 18, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Groe conducting the 1:30 p.m. services. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. An American Legion Auxiliary memorial service was held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, February 17. Casket bearers were Richard Prestemon, Eric Prestemon, Roger Martin, Frank Hager, Ronald Brandt, Frank Norden, Eaten Cote, and Chester Thiele.
Olga was born October 28, 1897 in Jefferson Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Ole and Mary (Saewert) Stadsvold. She attended rural Jefferson Township schools. On June 15, 1921 she married Ludvig Larson at the Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church where she had been baptized and confirmed. Ludvig died November 28, 1989. Olga was a 69 year member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and St. John's Lutheran Church where she was active in the Hannah Circle and WELCA. She was one of the first officers of the Golden Anniversary Club. She was an accomplished pianist, having played in an orchestra in her younger years and was a homemaker and dry cleaner.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Gilmore Stadsvold.
Surviving are a daughter, Joyce (Dean) Sperry of Russellville, Arkansas; 3 grandchildren, Holly (Richard) Roderick, Mary (John) Glasscock, and Jennifer Sperry; 5 great-grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan, and Jessica Glasscock and Christopher and Steven Roderick.
