Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, for Marjorie Alice Merhaut, age 73, who died Saturday, January 27, 1990 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Father Ed Lechtenberg conducted the 11 a.m. services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers will be Daniel Sass, Lester Sass, Arthur Sass, Milbourne Johnson, Earl Brainard, and Bill Livingood.
Marjorie was born February 27, 1916 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Elmer and Bessie (Skiles) Packer. She graduated from high school in Pittsburgh. On April 21, 1941 she married Daniel Merhaut in Pittsburgh. They lived in Pittsburgh and California before moving to Waukon, Iowa. Daniel died March 4, 1980. Marjorie lived at Thornton Manor in Lansing, Iowa for a year, two years at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa and the last year at Hillview Nursing Home in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Betty Barrett and Ann Gwin.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Patricia (Samuel) Palandro of Verona, Pennsylvania and Dana (Henry) Sass of Waukon, Iowa; 5 grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Gwin of Pismo Beach, California.
