William J. Wolfe, age 94, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Northgate Care Center, Waukon. Funeral services were held Friday, May 9 at St. Patrick's Church, Waukon. Hanson Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. William Joseph Wolfe was born August 11, 1908, in Anamosa, Iowa. He attended school through the eighth grade and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. On January 1, 1931, he married Beulah Bloxham in Waukon. Bill and Beulah farmed in the Harpers Ferry area for many years. They moved to Waukon in 1969, where Bill continued to work in the sale barns in Waukon and Decorah until the age of 85. Bill was known as a man who built a quality fence. Many people remember Bill as the cop at Rainbow Gardens. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, side trips to the farm, and spending time with his family. Survivors include five children, Beverly (Ding) Sather of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Dick) Stenberg of Cedar Rapids, Rose (Leo) Delay of Monticello, Iowa, Allan (Mary) Wolfe of Cedar Rapids, and John (Dianne) Wolfe of Harpers Ferry; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Currie of Anamosa, Mildred Oveson of Thompson, Ill., and Pauline Durgin of Clinton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah; two grandchildren; and six siblings, Hazel Rich, Josephine Schwartz, Henry Wolfe, Helen Babak, Lorene Voss, and Howard Wolfe. Honorary casketbearers were Gloria Fossum, Judy West, Sharon Stewart, Nancy Wolfe, Mari Christensen, Beth Cushing, Amy Wehrle, Lori Schulte, and Jennifer Delay. Casketbearers were Mark Delay, Chris Sather, Mike Sather, Eric Stenberg, Tom Wolfe, Greg Wolfe, Jerry Wolfe, David Wolfe, Larry Wolfe, and Don Wolfe.
