The sudden death of Mrs. Emmet Ryan occurred Sunday night at the Hall maternity hospital, where nine days before she gave birth to a son. Her death was due to thrombosis. Nee Gertrude Ronan, daughter of Mrs. D.D. Ronan, she was born at Lycurgus, Allamakee county, Nov. 11, 1902. She was wedded on May 18, 1927, to Emmet Ryan and they had since resided on a farm in Union City township. Five children were born to this union, namely: Mary, John, Phylis, Kathleen and Dennis. Besides the husband and children she is survived by her mother and brother James at home; two half-sisters and a half-brother, Mrs. Edward Quillin, Waukon, Charles Ronan, Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Emmet Zall of Hanover township. Funeral services were be held at St. Mary's Catholic church, Dorchester, Wednesday morning, with burial in the cemetery nearby.
