Funeral Services Held For Joseph Heins
Funeral services for Joseph Dale Heins were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville with Rev. Norman Ullestadt officiating. Full military rites were performed at the cemetery by Arthur F. Brandt Post No. 518 of the American Legion.
Joseph Dale Heins was born in Postville, April 25, 1943. He was killed Feb. 3 near Strawberry Point following a fire, when a chimney in the charred ruins of his father-in-law's house toppled over on him as he worked below.
Joseph was baptized June 6, 1943 in St. Paul Lutheran Church. He graduated from Postville high school in 1961. He spent three years in the Armed Forces, serving 13 months in Korea.
On Sept. 26, 1964, he was united in marriage to Valetta Brooks.
Mr. Heins was a farmer in the Postville area. He was a director of the Clayton Co. Swine Producers Assoc., a member of the Farm Bureau and of the Interstate Producers Livestock Association. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother Thomas. He is survived by his wife Valetta; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rolan Heins of Postville; a brother Milo of Postville; two sisters, Mrs. Carlton (Janet) Krueger and Mrs. Bernard (Myra) Voss, Elkader and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Welzel.
Schutte's Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
