William H. Dawson was born in Johnson Co., Indiana, Nov. 28, 1836 and died at his home in Postville, Iowa, Sept 26, 1906, aged 69 years, 9 months and 28 days, death resulting from a stomach trouble of long standing.
He was married to Lucy Amos, Jan. 1, 1866; to this union were born five daughters, two of whom, with the wife, preceded him in death. The three surviving children are Mrs. Zelma Dawes, Miss Carrie Dawson and Mrs. Bee Trudo, all of this city, who have the sympathy of all in their sore affliction.
Mr. Dawson has lived in Postville and vicinity since 1859, during which time none ever knew him to be other tan a just and upright man at all times and under all circumstances. He was a man of deeds rather than words, kind in his home and to his friends was true as steel. He was a member in good standing of Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204, A.F. & A.M., of this city, of which order he has long been a valued and faithful brother. Old friend, farewell.
The funeral was held from the M.E. church at 2:30 p.m. today, conducted by REv. W.W. Robinson and the Masonic fraternity. Interment in Postville cemetery.
