Carolyn Aitchison
Carolyn Mary Aitchison, age 59, died February 15, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Albert Lea, MN following a courageous 20-year battle with breast cancer. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 26 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea, MN with the Rev. Dwight Netzer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Carolyn was born March 27, 1951 in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of Elmer and Gladys (Meyer) Heitman. She grew up on a dairy farm in Allamakee County near New Albin and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s United Church of Christ Wheatland, New Albin. She was active with her church’s youth group and served as the church’s organist throughout her high school years.
Following high school graduation, she lived in Bensenville, IL for ten years, where she worked as a bank teller before moving to Minnesota, where she worked in food service for Albert Lea School District 241 for 17 years. She also worked at the First Presbyterian Church, Shopko and HyVee, all in Albert Lea, MN, and at the Kwik Trip in Caledonia, MN.
Carolyn has been a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years. She was active in the choir, Bible school and Kids Zone. She was also a visiting Deacon and a member of the Lydia Circle. She was active in the Cursio Weekends, which she enjoyed very much.She is survived by her mother, Gladys Heitman of New Albin; her daughter, Jennifer (Larry) Michaud of Clarks Grove, MN; her grandchildren, Jenna Donahue, Melyssa Donahue, Christian Donahue, Jazmin Michaud and Junior Michaud, III, all of Clarks Grove, MN; her brothers, Alan (Lori) Heitman of New Albin, Jack (Tammy) Heitman of Peoria, IL and David (Janette) Heitman of Lansing; her sisters, Darlene (David) Eggum of La Crosse, WI and Lori (Todd) Blanchard of La Crosse, WI; two special aunts, Gladys Tegtmeier and Delores Brumn; 16 nieces and nephews who each held a special place in her heart; and many cousins and friends whose lives were richly blessed by Carolyn.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Heitman; two aunts, Irma Johnson and Lillian Wuennecke; four uncles, Walter Tegtmeier, Donald Brumn, John Johnson and Roy Wuenneke; and a cousin, Robert Brumn.Waukon Standard, February 23, 2011
