Clay Allen Draper, five week old son of Michael and Emma (Beall) Draper of Vinton, Iowa died Saturday, August 31, 1985 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa of sudden infant death syndrome. Private graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 3 at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton with the Rev. David Nash officiating. Phillip's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. *His birthdate was not listed in the obituary.*

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Raymond Beall, formerly of Waukon, Iowa.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Cole, and paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Draper and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Opal (Southwell) Hertrampf Beall, all of Vinton, Iowa. Mrs. Beall formerly lived in Waukon, Iowa.

NOTE: Siblings of Emma (Beall) Draper who grew up in Allamakee County were: Brother, Carroll Beall and sisters, Delia Beall, Mrs. Mark (Jette Beall) Berken, and Mrs. Glen (Evangeline "Suzie" Beall) Spores; step-brother, William "Bill" Hertrampf, and Step-Sisters Mrs. William (Lois Hertrampf) Benson, and Mrs. James (Irene Hertrampf) Elton.
