Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Graveside services for Neil Charles Clark were held Thursday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dr. Nadime E. Saikaly of the Olivet Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Neil was born December 13, 1894 at Lake City, Iowa, the son of Ellis Ira and Adelaide (McKean) Clark. He died Tuesday, September 17, 1985 at the Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa.
He attended the country schools in the area where he grew up. In 1920 he was married to Clara Riss at Steen, Minnesota. He served in the Army during WWI. He was a member of the Hanford American Legion in Cedar Rapids, and a member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church, serving as its treasurer for several years. He was an automobile mechanic and worked in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area most of his life.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1944; a son, Lee Clark; 5 brothers, Ed Clark, Art Clark, Ralph Clark, Floyd Clark, and Dave Clark; and 2 sisters, Eva and Ethel.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Clark of Postville, Iowa and Loren Clark of Dorchester, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
