Florence Dundee

Florence Dundee, 98, of Waukon died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 5 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the stained glass window restoration fund at Zion United Church of Christ.
Florence Eckert was born June 16, 1912 in Waukon, the daughter of John and Edith (Roffman) Eckert. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1930. Following her graduation she worked at the A&P Grocery store in Waukon until she married Lincoln Valiere Dundee December 24, 1938 at the home of Rev. Van Nice in Waukon. Florence did the bookkeeping and inventory for the family implement business until its sale in 1979, along with raising their two children, Kay and Lynn.
Florence was a long-time member of Zion United Church of Christ and its ladies’ organizations. She and Valiere loved to travel. They had traveled together to all of the 50 United States, Canada and Mexico before their deaths. After a long and wonderful life, Florence now travels to heaven to join Valiere and the other members of her family in the peace of Christ.
Survivors include her two children, Kay Elaine (Len) Pallas of Ankeny and Lynn Allen (Diane) Dundee of Houston, TX; four wonderful grandchildren, Nancy Ellingson, Mark Ellingson, Sarah Ellingson Kircher and Lance (Michelle) Dundee; and three great-grandchildren, Michael and Madylin Kircher and William Dundee. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bernice Eckert Kelley; and a brother, John Eckert.
