Alma E. Meyer, age 89, a resident of the Health Care Center in LaCrescent, Minnesota, died Friday April 10, 1987. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eitzen, Minnesota with Pastor Lloyd Fried officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were John Fruechte, Keith Sokalick, Harry Kruse, Elmer Heitman, Herman Bunge, Chip Meyer, Gilbert Wiemerslage, and Wally Tegtmeier.

Alma was born June 12, 1897 in Union City Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to John and Catherine (Gade) Heitman. On June 2, 1920 she married Leo Meyer at St. Luke's UCC. They farmed in the Wilmington area before moving to LaCrescent, Minnesota when they retired. He died June 10, 1966. She was a long-time member of St. Luke's Church where she was also a member of the women's fellowship.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son and a grandson.

Survivors include two sons, Leland Meyer of Waukon, Iowa and Donald Meyer of Dayton, Ohio, and 2 daughters, Dorothy Palen of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and Lois Sokalick of Aurora, Colorado; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
