Arnold A. Hansen

Services were held Friday, January 10 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Arnold A. Hansen who died January 7 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, Decorah. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated.

Arnold Hansen was the oldest son of Hans L. and Anna Hansen. He was born in Shelby County, Iowa, February 16, 1909. He was baptized July 4, 1909 in Bethany Lutheran Church near Audubon by the Rev.. H. L. Jensen and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Atlantic. He was active in Lutheran Churches in Anita and Wiota when the couple lived in those communities. He had served as church elder, sang in the choir, belonged to the Couples Club and adult Bible class.

He attended grade school and high school in Anita.

On March 22, 1944 he was married in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Adair, to Erma Heckman by the Rev. Theo Hoemann.

The couple farmed near Anita until Mr. Hansen retired five years ago, due to illness, and moved to Postville.

He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers, two sisters and a daughter Kathleen on June 10, 1974.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter Mrs. Dale (Karen) Green of Castalia; a son, Raymond of Decorah; his mother, of Shenandoah, Iowa; three granddaughters; two brothers, Harvey of Anita and Arlo of Phoenix, Arizona and a sister Mrs. Dorothy Uhlig of Shenandoah, Iowa.

Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hansen of Anita; Mrs. Dorothy Uhlig of Shenandoah and Arlo Hansen of Phoenix, Arizona.
