KERMIT C. FISCHEN SERVICES HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Kermit C. Fitschen, prominent Chattanooga, Tenn. businessman passed away at the home of parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Fitschen, Lansing, early Sunday morning, March 24, 1968. "Casey", as he was known in the South, founded the Mid-South Chain Saw Co. in Chattanooga in 1953. As his business prospered he purchased several saw works. He continued to operate Chattanooga Saw Works as a Division of Mid-South Chain Saw Co. and recognized as Chattanooga Saw & Supply Co., Inc. Mr. Fitschen was president of Chattanooga Saw & Supply until Nov. 1967. Mr. Fitschen continued to operate Mid-South Chain Saw Co. as a separate company until it was sold in 1966.
Mr. Fitschen was a Master Mason, member of Wesley Methodist Church, attended Rock Spring, GA Methodist Church faithfully. A member of City Farmers Club of Chattanooga, member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association, member of Buyers-Sellers Association and American Foundryman's Association.
Memorial services were held in Chattanooga Monday morning, March 25th by former employees of Mr. Fischen. Dr. J. Fred Johnson, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church officiated.
Mr. Fitschen is survived by his wife, Marie Fitschen of Rock Spring, GA, a daughter Janet Elderege, Wallis, Wisc.; a son Michael of Dubuque, his parents, A.J. and Ruby Fitschen, Lansing, a sister Myra and an infant brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26th at Burke Funeral Home. Rev. A.W. Ebert officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.
Casket bearers were Fred Williamson, Joe Erwin, James Turner, Jack Tanner, of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Howard Steele and Leon May of New Albin.Allamakee Journal, Lansing, IA - Mar. 27, 1968
