Dean Hammel

Funeral services for Dean Hammel, 65, former Winneshiek county resident, were held Feb. 16, at First Lutheran Church, West Allis, WI. Interment was in Wisconsin Memorial Park cemetery. He died suddenly at his home in Milwaukee Feb. 12.

Dean Hammel was the son of Earl and Angie (Folsom) Hammel. He taught school in Winneshiek county for several years and also served in the armed forces. After his discharge from service they moved to Milwaukee where he worked for Harnischfiegers and later at the Dynex Corp. They also lived several years in Escanaba, MI and later moved back to Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ivanel, Sept. 2, 1984; and a brother Layton of Cresco.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. William (Janet) Wilson, Mrs. Shane (Jennifer) Ward and Mrs. Michael (Deana) Bickerstaff; seven sons, Jerry, David, Ronald, Donald, Robert and Stephen Hammel and Martin Narlock; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Leo Hammel, Decorah; his mother-in-law, Ella Lubbers and a brother-in-law, Duane Lubbers.
