A memorial graveside service was held Monday, July 6, 1987 at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa for Mrs. Dayton (Darlene) Niehaus Kettering, age 86 of Mt. Vernon, Iowa. She died Friday July 3, 1987 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Rev. Bob Hanson officiated at the 3:30 p.m. services. Earlier in the day a funeral service had been held at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Note: The Allamakee Connection is through her husband, Dayton Niehaus, who was a brother of Marian Niehaus (her obituary is on the Allamakee Obituary Board). It is believed that Darlene's husband's full name was Henry Dayton Niehaus, b. October 13, 1902 and died October 20, 1951. He is also buried in the Oakland cemetery. If anyone has more information on the Niehaus Family, please contact the transcriber.
